Seattle By Train

A photo diary of our overnighter in Seattle.

On Saturday my dad met us at our place and we drove all together to the Vancouver Amtrak station (easier parking than Portland). We boarded the 4-hour train in time to enjoy some coffee and a terrible breakfast sandwich. The Bean looked out the window at the passing freight trains, the trees, the farmland and the occasional cow or horse, and then the Puget Sound. She also went potty no fewer than a dozen times each way, and patrolled the aisles commentating on our fellow passengers. "That man, sleepin'." "Lady, read book." We did not get blessed with nice weather, but were troopers in the liquid sunshine. We ate lunch, napped in our room at the Red Lion at 5th & Pike Street, walked in the rain to REI, and then survived a downpour en route to a nice Indian dinner. The Bean stayed up way past her bedtime (I think Alex passed out before she did at 10 p.m.) and woke us nice and early at 5:30 a.m. We enjoyed a breakfast on the water at Pike's Market, and another wet walk along the waterfront. An early Sunday nap for us all, and then the 3-hour train ride home. It was a nice little getaway with the transportation itself serving as enterainment, and some QT with Beebee.

My goal for the weekend, aside from enjoying some time away from home with my family, was to learn to use my real camera in settings other than Auto. However, I don't have the lense I "need" and I forgot to bring the battery charger, so mission failed. We did get at least a few good ones anyway.
