Girls Getaway to Denver

Thanks to my dad for the Christmas present, I finally cashed in on my trip to Denver to visit my BFF Stac and her daughter, Vivi. And being that the Bean turns 2 in just a couple weeks, we took advantage of her last opportunity to fly for free as a "lap infant." I laugh at that term - 1) she's no infant, with full-fledged toddler tantrums and all, and 2) it's nearly impossible to keep her on a lap. Fortunately for me, neither of our flights were full, so the Bean got her "own" seat (again, nearly impossible to keep her on a lap, in a seat, or anywhere consistent for more than 3 minutes at a time). On the way out to Denver, a young graduate student was naive enough to sit in our row - the Bean didn't so much as paw at him as say "hi man" or "show man" pretty constantly throughout the trip. On the flight back home, nobody so much as eyed our row, and we got all three seats to crush goldfish crackers, spill apple juice, and pull out not one, not two, but THREE backseat pockets worth of reading materials. The Bean's favorite is the plane evacuation manual. Safety first.

As always, it's like a breath of fresh air to visit with Stac. Not that we really had even one uninterrupted conversation. Or even minute, for that matter. But as is always true with best friends, we picked right back up where we last left off, however circuitous of a tangent we might take. We didn't really do anything, which is almost always true for us. And now with the addition of kiddos, we're even more likely to putter the time away, between meals, naps, snacks and milk, there's only a few hours left in the day to whittle away at Target or the mall. Which we, of course, did.

To end the trip, I proposed to Stac - I asked her for the millionth time if she would do me the honor of being my sisterwife. Nick and Vivi are welcome too. We can live on a compound, or even just next door to each other, and have one big shared backyard. Nick can cook our dinners. Stac can clean our kitchen. Vivi can entertain the Bean. It's a match made in heaven. But apparently the answer is no, yet again. Sigh. They have jobs and family and a life or something in Denver. Whatever.

But anyhow, thanks to the Shines for a wonderful weekend! Sorry 'bout the puke and eating all your food and never washing a dish but coloring all over your table instead and peeing in the bath and not sharing toys but stealing back the gifts we brought and making you buy craft supplies for a project we never did do and using your nice diapers instead of our cheapie ones. Best houseguests ever?!?! xoxo

Toddlers really aren't very photogenic. They're more likely to be a blur, so it takes a montage to get a "good photo."

"Oo la la."

Little miss Cindy Lou Who. Playing salon with Auntie Stac.

Bath time = cup cheiwng time.

Me and my girl at the mall.

Let's hold hands and pretend I don't pull things out of your hand because I can't share yet while you pretend that your carseat still fits you.

"Oga."

Two babies and two books. Are YOU mom enough?

Sigh. My heart feels happy when I see these two dressed alike.

Let's play babies.

Seriously, more pictures??

BFF's.

We multiplied.

The Vivi on the bus goes "more avocado!"

These two.

Queen Vivi - happy 1st birthday today!!

Sick Bean. On her third pair of PJ's after barfing all over the others.

"Pane! Fy!"

Reading up on evacuation plans. Safety first.
