(Stuff Alex Made) - Superhero Dollhouse

Somehow, between a sick Bean, a working Mama, and then a violent case of The Noro himself, Alex still managed to make Francie this wooden dollhouse during Spring Break, red chimney and all. Originally, I was going to buy something like this at IKEA, a children's product that pitched itself as a "shelf." But when I asked Alex if he could build it for less than 40 bucks or whatever the Swedes were charging, he insisted on designing/building it himself. Although he didn't have a chance to make it for her to open at her birthday, it has made for quite the superhero hangout in the last several days. I mean, just what do you think Batman and Wonder Woman are up to in the background of the photo below? A lover's quarrel? Making their weekly grocery list? Flight or Lasso of Truth lessons? Planning for the vigilante act of a lifetime? I have yet to see her play with her box of hand-me-down small wooden dolls and furniture (including some of her great-grandmother Peggy's toys!) in the new dollhouse, and have overheard her on multiple occasions lamenting the fact that the house has no stairs. I'm thinking she sees it as a better fit for the superheroes with their superpowers and all, obvi.
